Introducing the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0
In this video, the Chief Executive Officer of the VCAA, Kylie White, announces the release of the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0.
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 sets out what every student should learn during their first 11 years of schooling. It balances the requirement for a comprehensive array of knowledge and skills to be taught and learnt with the desire for authentic teaching and learning programs that are responsive to the learning needs of students. The curriculum describes the common set of knowledge and skills required by students for lifelong learning, social development, and active and informed citizenship.
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 comprises a sequentially-developed continuum of learning. This continuum of learning is expressed through a coherent set of achievement standards, with comprehensive and clear content descriptions that enable teachers to plan, monitor, assess and report on the learning achievement of every student.
The Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 incorporates much of the Australian Curriculum Version 9.0 but differs in some important respects. Most notably, it represents the curriculum as a continuum of learning and reflects Victorian priorities and standards. Expertise and feedback from Victorian teachers have been incorporated to improve clarity and ensure appropriate sequential development of knowledge and skills across each curriculum area.
Victorian government and Catholic schools are required to use the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 from the implementation dates confirmed by each sector (see the timeline for familiarisation and implementationof the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0 and/or contact your sector for more information). Independent schools may use the Victorian Curriculum F–10 version 2.0 as a model and resource for the effective implementation of the Australian Curriculum.
This website describes the Victorian Curriculum F–10 Version 2.0. It will continue to be updated with new content and functionality as additional curriculums and resources are released. The current Victorian Curriculum F–10 (Version 1.0) can be viewed on the Victorian Curriculum F–10 website.
